Due to rotten judges thousands of criminals back on streets — Kyva

After releasing a criminal, the Shevchenkivsky district court has stuck one more nail in the coffin of the judicial system, Head of the Socialist Party Illia Kyva has said.

"Today, a judge of the Shevchenkivsky district court released the criminal who shot at the policeman. This was another display of the failure of the judicial system. For many years nothing has changed in it: it is due to some rotten judges today that thousands of criminals are back to the streets," the politician wrote on his Facebook page.

Kyva said that he personally faced the outrage of the judicial system and gave specific examples.

"In 2016, the case against the drug profiteer Vadym Velikodny and his gang, whom we, together with the officers of the department for fighting drug-related crimes of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, tracked for several months, was handed over to court. And the same, the Shevchenkivsky district court, which today released the criminal who shot at the policeman, releases Vadym Velikodny on bail of $30,000! For two years the latter continues his acts of crime, having a cushy time in expensive resorts. And the judge of the Pechersky district court, Svitlana Shaputko, postpones hearings, "not finding the time" to hear the case. In 2015, when I was at the front, we detained a separatist named Kerimov. He was the principal executive post of the town of Antratsyt. He himself made a confession in paper to me that he signed six sentences of execution by firing squad! But two years later the Starobelsk district court released him," the leader of the Socialist Party said.

Illia Kyva said that he supports the initiative of withdrawing the police from standing guard in courts, and also called for a decisive purge of the judicial system.

"I'm wondering, why do we need this kind of courts, where all those who yesterday supported terrorist organizations - the "DPR" and "LPR" - found shelter? As well as all those who support organized crime in our country. I support the initiative of withdrawing the police from standing guard in courts. Standing guard, you become part of the judicial Bacchanalia that destroys our society. Law enforcers risk their lives, catching criminals, and courts release these criminals! For some judges, courts are not an institution of justice. It is a machine for making money. That is why it needs a ruthless, resolute and uncompromising purge! As long as the money is more important than human life for some judges, Ukrainians cannot feel protected citizens in their own country. Ukraine needs the strict orderliness! And we should start with the judicial system, purging it from individuals who poison and discredit this public power institution," the SPU head said in the statement.

Earlier, on February 19, the Shevchenkivsky district court released on bail a radical shooting at the policeman near the building of the Solomiansky district court during a hearing of the Odesa Mayor Hennadiy Trukhanov case. In response to this verdict, Minister of Interior Affairs of Ukraine Arsen Avakov said that he will ask the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine and the Verkhovna Rada to withdraw the police from standing guard in courts.
