Kyva: New regulatory authorities not reducing level of corruption

The creation of new oversight bodies, in particular the National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU) and the National Agency on Corruption Prevention (NACP), does not reduce embezzlement rates in the country, but instead generate and devastate the national budget, Head of the Socialist Party of Ukraine (SPU) Illia Kyva said.

"After the creation of NACP and NABU, has the level of corruption decreased? One can create as much as necessary bodies, but until the law and the judicial system are not working, these will be only additional "doors" where a bribe must be paid," he said on the 112 TV channel.

The politician said that at the present, budget funds are being spent on the creation of new supervisory institutions, allegedly to fight corruption, while they could be used to solve other pressing problems.

"Big money, which could be used for medical support, education and payment of pensions, is being spent from the national budget," he said.

According to Kyva, the reason is the absence of the law and the system of punishment for crimes.

"We are building a state machine, but the base is rotten. It is necessary to change the essence. There is a court, the prosecutor's office and the police. This is enough to destroy crime, corruption, if one is not at the helm of it," he said.
